Inspired: TikTok Trend
Hey y’all! I saw this trend on TikTok tok and it got me thinking about what I am keeping and bringing into 2024 and what I am leaving behind.
IN - Walking
Most of my work consists of sitting and typing on a computer all day. I implemented walking into my daily schedule last year and I am keeping it this year. I do not want to have lower back and mobility issues before I turn 22. Plus it is a daily reminder to touch some grass!
OUT - Rushing
I do not want to rush and get worked up before going to places and doing things. This year we are setting a schedule and allotting an appropriate time to complete my tasks. I want to be more intentional with my time and savor moments instead of having a perpetual feeling that I am running late or close to missing a deadline.
IN - Reading and winding down before bed
I tend to have a habit of reading, working, studying, etc. right up to the very last moment before I sleep. This normally looks like studying very late and then knocking out at my desk or coming home from the library and immediately going to bed. I want to implement a “wind down” routine so my brain can relax and I can have quality sleep.
OUT - Imposter Syndrome
This semester was pretty difficult because I was surrounded by very smart and successful people. Sometimes I felt like a secret imposter who had to act a certain way to keep up appearances. However, I need to be confident in my abilities and successes. Moreover, I understand that I do not have to do everything by myself the Lord is with me and I do not have to worry what people will think.
IN - Starting new traditions
When I was younger my parents would buy me a cool gift or take me out to dinner to celebrate when I would accomplish things or end a semester well. Now that I am older and more independent, I want to continue this. I was thinking that I could slowly start building a collection with each item that represents a good memory or a major success in my life. I think it would be great to create new traditions and give myself a reward or a goal to work towards.
2024 is going to be a great year. I am going to complete my first year of law school and have my first legal internship! Along the way, I plan on making great memories and building new relationships with the people around me. It is so beautiful that entering a new year pushes many people to evaluate their lives and focus on new ways to better themselves. I have many new goals this year and I hope that I can achieve them with the Lord. Happy New Year!
